The Rhino range has progressed during Rhino’s 35-year history, aided by the combined knowledge and expertise of companies Lusty Low Loader and AFM-O’Phee Trailers, which were purchased and consolidated into the Rhino brand by the parent company.
Our 40,000-square-metre (sqm) factory at Toowoomba is a one-stop outlet for all trailer requirements, featuring a comprehensive offering under one roof, including a protective coatings facility and facilities for servicing, modifications, and refurbishments.
Our Journey
AFM – O’Phee Trailers began in 1988 after Australian Farm Machinery purchased O’Phee Manufacturing.
Since then, the company has relocated its operations from Pittsworth to Toowoomba and has continually upgraded the design, quality and finish of all products produced. In February 2001 AFM – O’Phee Trailers was purchased by The Davey Group. This has brought about an increased emphasis on production procedures, trailer design and the finished product.
Lusty Low Loaders was formed over 25 years ago and is a proudly 100% Australian-owned company.
Lusty Low Loaders specialises in the design and manufacture of custom-build road transport equipment, including low loaders and other purpose-built heavy haulage equipment manufactured by skilled tradespeople in Australia for Australian conditions! The business was purchased by The Davey Group and relocated to Toowoomba in 2007 and has undergone extensive design review to ensure the entire range of trailers are designed and manufactured to the highest standards.
Today, Rhino Trailers are known as the trailer trailblazers, where durability meets innovation.
Based in Toowoomba, Queensland has established a long standing reputation in the transport industry for building quality custom built semi – trailers. Our trailers are well known for their superior strength and cordially reinforce our company logo ‘Strength in Design’.

The Davey Group’s various divisions include standard engineered products and design and construct capabilities. The company specialises in delivering complete turnkey solutions, including large, complex industrial equipment, storage solutions, bulk materials handling, processing plants, structural steel buildings, and supporting plant infrastructure.
The Davey Group Toowoomba site features a modern 1,500sqm abrasive blasting and protective coatings facility with a 23m x 6.2m x 6.2m environmentally friendly abrasive blast chamber capable of using all types of material for surface preparation. The 13m wide x 42m long booth is suitable for all large equipment and machinery with industrial finishes, and a 24m long heated spray booth offers greater flexibility in applying quality coatings to commercial and industrial machinery and equipment to exact Australian Standards and International specifications.
The protective coating division underwrites delivery commitments on finished products – something it has successfully been doing since it was established.
As a result, this state-of-the-art facility is where Rhino gets its trailers painted, unifying two divisions of The Davey Group to deliver unbeatable products in quality, design, and construction.
